We were thrilled to welcome author and illustrator Chanté Timothy to Years 3 and 4 this week for an exciting and inspiring visit!
Chanté is the creative mind behind the brilliant graphic novel SupaNova, which features a young scientist and her mischievous plastic-eating creation, Chomp.
During her visit, Chanté spoke to the children about the importance of reducing plastic usage and how everyday items can contain hidden plastics. She even led a fun and interactive game where pupils had to guess whether certain objects were made of plastic. The biggest surprises? Clothing and chewing gum! Many students were shocked to learn these everyday items contain plastic too.
Chanté also shared the inspiration behind her book. Her passion for science and storytelling came together in SupaNova, and she encouraged the children to explore their own creativity and curiosity, especially when it comes to science and the environment.
To finish off the session, Chanté led a fantastic step-by-step drawing workshop, guiding all the children in creating their very own version of one of her characters.
A huge thank you to Chanté Timothy for such a memorable and meaningful visit.
