Spring Term is a busy and exciting term. We have a lot of exciting opportunities and hands on activities for the children to partake in. We are thrilled to be welcoming a lot of new children this term. We know that Nursery will bring challenges as they begin their school journey in EYFS but with everyone’s support, we know your child can succeed! We hope that you had an enjoyable, relaxing, and memorable Christmas and that you have all stayed safe and healthy. We look forward to hearing what the children have been getting up to and what Santa brought them for Christmas. I am sure they all have lots of news to share.

In the Spring Term we will be learning a lot of new and stimulating things. Our first topic is ‘Let’s Play’ which is all about children’s favourite toys, cuddly toys and linking toys to the famous Toy Story film. The second topic we will be doing is ‘Jurassic Park’ which is all about dinosaurs, fossils, and bones. We will also be getting creative with Easter activities and even an Easter assembly too. We will have a lot of hands-on activities for the children to partake in and we will capture their every move.

In English, we will be concentrating on our English language using nursery rhymes and discussion times. The children will be encouraged to communicate with adults and other children too. In Maths, we will start by looking at numbers 1 – 10 using songs and nursery rhymes then we will focus on our main numbers 1 – 3. Throughout the day we will encourage children to try and use their numbers effectively.

Reading is also very important for the children to develop their understanding of pictures and everyday objects. We remind you that children’s books need to be in school every day so that teachers can also listen to them read and help us to monitor their progress. This will also enable the books to be changed more regularly. However, we would still expect daily reading to happen at home. The books are slightly different than higher up the school, they have pictures and simple questions for you to ask the children.

Forest school will be taught once a week. This will be taught on Fridays. Children will need a waterproof coat and wellies so that no matter the weather we are able to partake in Forest School.

It would also be appreciated if all uniform (including PE kit and pumps and water bottles) could be labelled with your child’s full name and class. ALL children will always need a spare pair of clothes in school, in case of any accidents.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher at the end of the school day or via Class Dojos. Thank you in anticipation of your continued support.

We ae looking forward to a fun packed Spring Term full of learning and progress.
