Community Links
At Goldthorn Park Primary School we encourage links with our local community.
We believe that community links are essential in the growth, development and wellbeing of all our pupils. Links with our local community help us to build relationships with groups and individuals who will provide positive role models for our children.


Special Visit from the Police!
Reception had an exciting visit from a PCSO, who brought along his police van! The children loved sitting inside the van and asking lots of brilliant questions about his job.


PCSO Visits Year 2
Our local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) visited Year 2 to talk about stranger danger and recognising safer strangers. The children discussed how to stay safe, what to do if they get lost, and who they can trust for help. We are very grateful for the visit and the valuable safety advice shared.


Year 3 Visit to Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara
What a wonderful day we had visiting the Gurdwara! The trip provided the children with a detailed and meaningful insight into Sikhism and helped them understand how a Gurdwara is run. They were incredibly respectful throughout and asked many thoughtful and well-considered questions, showing great curiosity and engagement. PCSO Visits Year 1
Our local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) visited Year 1 to talk to the children about stranger danger and the importance of recognising safer strangers. During the session, the children listened carefully and took part in discussions about different everyday scenarios. National Storytelling Week
For National Storytelling Week, Year 2 children have been exploring a wonderful variety of stories, including Non-fiction books, modern favourites and imaginative stories they created themselves. In their assembly to parents they shared some of their own storytelling work and celebrated how stories can inspire, entertain and bring people together. Year 1 Explore Our Local Area
Year 1 took part in a walk around our local area as part of our Geography 'Unity in the community' topic. We explored different physical and human features whilst remembering how to keep safe in our local environment.


Year 6 Visitor – PCSO Shinton
Year 6 pupils recently took part in an informative talk led by PCSO Shinton, focusing on antisocial behaviour and knife crime. The session was delivered in an age-appropriate way and helped pupils understand how their choices and actions can affect themselves and others. PCSO visit to Year 4 and 5
Our local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) visited Year 4 and Year 5 children to help them understand the importance of good behaviour and the consequences of anti-social actions. The engaging session aimed to educate children on the concept of criminal responsibility and how their actions can impact their community.


Physical Development Workshop
We had a wonderful workshop in Reception learning all about gross motor and fine motor skills. The children enjoyed sharing their pencil grip song with their parents whilst showing them how to hold a pencil. We also did lots of activities together to strengthen our fingers and core body to promote super writing skills! 100% of parents attended in Class 1- together we give our children the best learning experiences and success! Year 5 Choir Performance
Year 5 choir members took part in our annual singing event at St Barts Church. They sung a variety of songs - some tricky, but certainly rose to the challenge! The song by ABBA - 'Thank you for the music' really showcased their voices! They took part in a concert for the parents in the evening too, and thoroughly enjoyed performing in a church! Year 6 Remembrance Day Assembly
Our Year 6 pupils led a moving Remembrance Day assembly to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in conflicts past and present. Through readings and reflective performances, the children shared messages of peace, gratitude, and remembrance. They demonstrated great maturity and respect as they helped the whole school understand why it is so important to remember. A Magical Musical Journey with The Stringcredibles
We were very lucky to welcome The Stringcredibles — a quartet of world-class orchestral musicians — and Nate Holder, a professional saxophonist and award-winning author! Their incredible show, The Butterfly Lands , took us on a magical journey of migration, told through the metaphor of a butterfly. The story followed the butterfly’s travels across different islands, exploring music, language, faith, clothing, and food — and celebrating how diversity brings richness and beaut
