We were delighted to welcome families into school for our World Environmental Day Workshop, where children and parents came together to celebrate and care for our wonderful planet.
A highlight of the event was hearing the children confidently share a range of fascinating facts about our environmental impact, demonstrating their growing knowledge and passion for protecting the Earth.
We also proudly introduced our Goldthorn Park-themed poem, “Our GOLDEN Promise to the Earth,” which captured the values and commitment of our school community to caring for the world around us.
Families then worked creatively together to turn tin cans into imaginative up‑cycled pencil pots. This activity not only highlighted the importance of reducing waste, but also encouraged children to think responsibly about reusing everyday materials. These wonderful handmade pencil pots will remain in school for the rest of the year, helping children build responsibility and pride in their work.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event—it was a fantastic afternoon of learning, creativity, and environmental awareness. Together, we are proud to be keeping our GOLDEN promise to the Earth!
Our GOLDEN Promise to the Earth
At Goldthorn Park Primary,
Under wide, blue skies,
We care for our world
With hopeful hearts and curious eyes.
G is for Growth, as seeds push through the ground,
Learning how nature makes life all around.
O is for Optimism, believing each day
That small, kind actions can show us the way.
L is for Leadership, standing up tall,
Protecting our planet — it belongs to us all.
D is for Determination, we don’t give up,
We recycle, reuse, and keep litter picked up.
E is for Excellence, doing our best,
For forests and oceans, wildlife and nests.
N is for Nurture, with care that is true,
For the Earth and each other, in all that we do.
So on World Environment Day, hear our promise out loud:
We’ll keep Earth safe —Goldthorn Park proud. 🌍💚
