Our Year 5/6 Choir had an incredible time singing and dancing at the Singing in the Halls event this year at the Civic Halls. Singing a range of songs from Queen, Panic at the Disco, Taylor Swift, Myles Swift, A-ha, The Script, Tina Turner and Ben E. King the children gave a sterling performance and represented our school wonderfully. They enjoyed being accompanied by many familiar faces and teaching staff from Wolverhampton Music School on stage, and the smiles tell it all.

Year 4 embarked on an unforgettable Rainforest Roadshow and were transported deep into the heart of the Amazon. The children became fearless explorers as they encountered a range of fascinating rainforest creatures, including a tarantula, a praying mantis and a giant millipede. Year 5 welcomed our local PCSO into school for a session on bullying, where the children learned about the different forms it can take, including physical, verbal, social, and cyberbullying. The PCSO explained how bullying affects others and outlined the potential consequences for those who bully, from school‑based consequences to more serious outcomes when behaviour becomes persistent or happens online. Year 6 had a wonderful, fun-filled day today! The children greatly enjoyed taking part in our exciting circus workshop, where they had the chance to learn new skills, practise balancing, juggling, and build their confidence. As part of our continued focus on enhancing PE opportunities, following feedback from parents in the Summer 2025 parent survey, Year 3 have been very fortunate to begin a series of dance lessons led by a specialist from Our Lady and St Chad’s, which will run over four weeks. Our Year 1 children enjoyed meeting Rosalind this morning and learning about road safety. They listened carefully about how to stay safe on the road. They were reminded how they need to stop, look and listen and recognise safe places to cross.

This month, Goldthorn Park is proudly taking part in Walk to School Month! We’re encouraging all children to stay active by walking to school whenever possible. To support this initiative, Year 2 have taken part in a road safety session with our school crossing patrol, helping them learn how to stay safe while walking near and crossing roads.

Reception children had a special visit from a road safety officer! They learned important tips on how to cross the road safely and practiced them with lots of enthusiasm. To make learning even more fun, the officer also taught the children a catchy road safety song, helping them remember the key rules while singing along. It was a fantastic, interactive session that combined learning with fun, helping our children stay safe on their way to and from school.

During the session, pupils explored the effects of bullying on both the person being bullied and the person displaying the bullying behaviour. What an incredible performance Years 3 and 4 put on in their spring production of Dragon Days ! The children have worked so hard over the past weeks, and it truly showed on stage—their singing, acting, and confidence were fantastic, and the whole show wouldn’t have been out of place on a West End stage. They were absolutely amazing, and we are so proud of each and every one of them for creating such a memorable performance.

We had a fabulous time taking part in our ‘pop up role play visit’. We explored in the dinosaur area, posted parcels at the post office, practiced different hair styles on dolls, became vets for the day, put out fires at the fire station and looked after each other at the doctors. It was such a lovely experience for the children, and we really hope that they enjoyed it.

Year 4 were so excited to receive their letters from their Italian pen pals. It was wonderful to see the care and attention with which they opened and read their letter, truly appreciating the time and effort that had gone into them. The drawings and stickers were a particular highlight, bringing big smiles all around. The children are already eagerly looking forward to writing their replies!
