Day of Welcome in Reception!
Reception had a wonderful Day of Welcome as part of Refugee Week. The children talked about our differences and how we can help everyone feel welcome, valued and included. They took part in our whole-school rainbow celebration by wearing rainbow colours and joining the rest of the school to create a giant rainbow on the playground. Sharing Stories for Refugee Week
As part of Refugee Week, our younger children enjoyed a wonderful shared reading session with our older pupils. Year 6 spent time reading their favourite stories with Year 1, Year 3 shared books with Nursery, and Reception swapped stories with Year 4 before enjoying a film together. Heathly Eating in Reception!
As part of Healthy Eating Week, Reception enjoyed a hands-on fruit tasting session. The children carefully cut up their own fruit before enjoying a special fruit and milk snack together. They explored a variety of fruits, including pineapple, mango, different types of melon and even Mrs Blyth's favourite – pomegranate seeds! Road Safety in Reception
Reception children had a special visit from a road safety officer! They learned important tips on how to cross the road safely and practiced them with lots of enthusiasm. To make learning even more fun, the officer also taught the children a catchy road safety song, helping them remember the key rules while singing along. It was a fantastic, interactive session that combined learning with fun, helping our children stay safe on their way to and from school.

Celebrating Vaisakhi
The children had an amazing time learning all about the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi today. They took part in a special assembly led by a spiritual visitor, who showed them a range of Sikh artefacts such as the sword (kirpan) and kara, helping to deepen their understanding in a meaningful way. After this, the children enjoyed some downtime where they got creative, making Vaisakhi cards for their friends and family. It was lovely to see their thoughtful designs and messages....

Special Duckling Visitors in Reception
Reception have been very excited to welcome the ducklings into their classroom. The children have loved watching them and learning about how to care for them. They have handled the ducklings very gently and shown great care and responsibility while holding them. It has been a wonderful experience for the children, helping them learn about animals and how important it is to treat them with kindness and respect.

Celebrating Mother’s Day in Reception

Special Visit from the Police!
Reception had an exciting visit from a PCSO, who brought along his police van! The children loved sitting inside the van and asking lots of brilliant questions about his job.

National Storytelling Week - Reception!
We’ve had a wonderful week of learning, which started by taking part in Simon Mole (poet) and Gecko’s (Musician) online learning session by clapping and singing to rhymes about insects. We even had a go at making up our own rhyme and used instruments to the syllables of the words. We have had a great time creating our very own sock puppets into a new character and telling stories about them. We’ve also enjoyed reading for pleasure every day!

Pancake Day in EYFS!
We have had the best ever pancake day at school! We all made pancake batter together, talking about different ingredients we were using. We made eggless pancakes which the children said tasted soooooo delicious! We poured our pancake batter into the pan onto the fire. We learnt how heat can cook and change food. The children then chose their own toppings and asked for more! The children were excellent at flipping the pancakes too!

Reception Teddy Bears' Picnic
Reception had a lovely time enjoying their Teddy Bears’ Picnic! The children shared fruit and milk, drew pictures of their own teddy bear picnics, and even read stories to their bears.

Snowstorms, Bear Hunts & Sensory Adventures in Reception!
We have had an indoor weather sensory walk, a Physical Development bear hunt and enjoyed so many painting opportunities. We really enjoyed walking through our 'snowstorm tuff tray' with ice, paint and water to create a snowy footprint walk.

Farm Visit
Early Years had a fabulous afternoon when a farm came to visit—along with a very special Christmas guest! The children enjoyed getting up close and personal with a variety of animals and loved learning all about them. It was an exciting, hands-on experience that brought plenty of smiles.

Penn Puppets
What a fantastic opportunity our children had today, watching a wonderful Christmas puppet performance from Penn Puppets! The show was full of festive fun, music and laughter, and our pupils were absolutely captivated from start to finish. “It was the best!” said Gurshaan from Reception — and we couldn’t agree more!

Our Royal Ball
We had a wonderful time learning all about our story Cinderella. The children designed their own ballroom outfit, drew themselves in there special party wear, learnt all about castles and made their own castles using different building materials. We even learnt how to ballroom dance and enjoyed a royal banquet.

Physical Development Workshop
We had a wonderful workshop in Reception learning all about gross motor and fine motor skills. The children enjoyed sharing their pencil grip song with their parents whilst showing them how to hold a pencil. We also did lots of activities together to strengthen our fingers and core body to promote super writing skills! 100% of parents attended in Class 1- together we give our children the best learning experiences and success! Early Years Bonfire Celebrations
We have had a brilliant week of learning all about bonfire night 🔥 We had the best bonfire day, making our own fire, learning about fire safety, toasting apples, making editable sparklers and enjoying some hot chocolate with campfire songs ☕️🍏🔥🔥

Nursery Rhyme Week and Odd Socks in Reception!
This week we have enjoyed singing all of our favourite Nursery Rhymes with each other and with schools within our trust. Lots of our language development comes from learning our nursery rhymes which makes it a very important part of our learning ☺️ We all came to school with our odd socks on Monday to show we are all different in special ways. We did lots of learning about how we are all special and how to be kind to each other 😃
