Today, Year 5 were delighted to welcome a Roman historian- Professor McGinty’s. The children learnt about Roman clothing, culture, architecture, daily life, and even unusual foods. During the visit the children handled real artefacts from Roman times, which really brought history to life.

Our football team played their first competitive match of the 2025–2026 season, against Parkfield Primary. We showed real grit and determination to equalise before a last-minute goal from the opposition ended the game 2–1. We are so proud of their effort and teamwork!

Year 5 choir members took part in our annual singing event at St Barts Church. They sung a variety of songs - some tricky, but certainly rose to the challenge! The song by ABBA - 'Thank you for the music' really showcased their voices!  They took part in a concert for the parents in the evening too, and thoroughly enjoyed performing in a church! Well done to all children involved today.

Our school was filled with colour, music, and excitement as we celebrated Diwali – the Festival of Lights! Some of our children came dressed in beautiful traditional costumes, bringing a vibrant splash of culture to the day. The sounds of the dhol drums echoed through the school as children joined in the rhythms. Creative hands were busy making clay diva lamps, Diwali cards, and stunning rangoli patterns using bright colours and designs. Year 5 brought all their learning from their Mission Control  topic to life with an exciting trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester. During the visit, they explored the fascinating exhibits, discovering a wealth of facts about space and science. A highlight was the impressive Rocket Tower, where they saw real-life examples of space technology up close.
