Year 5 STEM Workshops

The Year 5 girls had an inspiring day at Wolverhampton Girls’ School, where they immersed themselves in a range of hands‑on STEM workshops. The girls took part in a variety of workshops including computer science, experimenting with programming and exploring how technology shapes the world around them. They also, took part in a Design & Technology workshop, they took on the challenge of building a sturdy structure using only spaghetti and elastic bands, testing their engineering skills to create a base strong enough to hold up to 2kg. The girls won the competition for the best structure. Their final workshop was science, where the girls investigated acids and alkalis, explored the states of matter through solids and liquids, and ended with an experiment creating elephant’s toothpaste. The girls thoroughly enjoyed every part of the day. Their curiosity, teamwork, and creativity shone through, and they left feeling inspired by the possibilities within STEM.
