The children suggested their own lines of enquiry to find out which fizzy drink contains the most sugar. They began by making guesses and suggested tasting the drinks, but quickly realised that taste buds vary and this would not be an accurate way to investigate.
They then used the nutritional information on the labels, recording the sugar content and converting the amounts to find how much sugar is in a 2-litre bottle. This helped the children make fair comparisons and understand a more reliable way of carrying out an investigation.
