Year 6 Art with a Message!

In Art, Year 6 explored the powerful world of street art and discovered how many artists use their work to communicate important social messages. We discussed a range of issues that matter to people and considered how art can inspire change, raise awareness and encourage others to think differently.

The children then reflected on social issues that are important to them, such as protecting the environment, equality, kindness, mental health and community. Using colour, imagery and symbolic designs, they created their own eye-catching mural artwork to express a meaningful message. Through this project, pupils developed their understanding of street art as a form of communication while enhancing their creativity, visual literacy and ability to convey ideas through art.

"I liked being able to create art about something I care about. It felt like my artwork had a purpose." Aravpreet

"

I learned that street art is not just decoration - it can send a powerful message to lots of people." Aditya

"We used symbols and colours to help people understand our message without using lots of words." Hari
