Headteacher's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week, we have been focusing on our GOLDEN value of Excellence. At Goldthorn Park Primary School, excellence means always striving to be the very best version of ourselves. It is about taking pride in our work, showing resilience when

faced with challenges, embracing new opportunities and giving our very best effort in everything we do. Excellence is not about being perfect; it is about learning, growing and continually seeking to improve.

Our pupils have demonstrated this value wonderfully through the many opportunities they have enjoyed recently. Year 4 presented a fantastic class assembly, confidently sharing their learning and achievements with others Year 4 Rocks the Stage!. Children across Key Stage 2 have taken part in Bikeability, showing determination, responsibility and a willingness to develop important life skills. Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Hoo Farm A Roarsome Day at Hoo Zoo!, whilst Year 3 had a fantastic day at Dudley Zoo A Day to Remember at Dudley Zoo!, bringing their classroom learning to life through memorable first-hand experiences.

I would also like to congratulate our Year 6 pupils, who have spent time visiting their new secondary schools this week. They have represented Goldthorn Park Primary exceptionally well, demonstrating the respect, confidence and maturity that we are so proud of. They have been excellent ambassadors for our school and should all feel very proud of themselves as they prepare for the next stage of their education.

As we look ahead to another exciting week, there is plenty to look forward to. We have the Elston Hall Learning Trust Commonwealth Games at Aldersley, our rearranged Sports Days, the Year 4 Violin Concert, Goldthorn's Got Talent and many other exciting events taking place. These opportunities not only celebrate our pupils' talents and achievements but also provide further chances for them to demonstrate our GOLDEN value of Excellence.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Together, we can continue to encourage our children to aim high, embrace challenges and strive for excellence in all that they do.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs R. Purshouse

Headteacher

Together we learn, lead and grow.

Safeguarding: IMPORTANT ALLERGY AWARENESS REMINDER – NUT FREE SCHOOL

The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is our highest priority. As many of you will be aware, Goldthorn

Park Primary School is a NUT FREE school due to several children having severe nut allergies. For some children, even small amounts of nuts or contact with nut products can trigger a serious and potentially

life-threatening allergic reaction.

The recent introduction of Benedict's Law, named in memory of Benedict Blythe, further highlights the

importance of allergy awarenss and the responsibility schools and families share in keeping children

safe. The legislation has strengthened expectations around allergy management, staff training and

safeguarding arrangements within schools.

We therefore ask all parents and carers not to send any products containing nuts into school, including

items such as:

  • Nutella or other chocolate and nut spreads

  • Ferrero Rocher chocolates

  • Kinder Bueno bars

  • Peanut butter sandwiches

  • Mixed nuts or nut snack packs

  • Cakes, biscuits or cereal bars containing nuts

Please remember to check ingredient labels carefully, as nuts can be

included in products that may not appear to contain them. We appreciate your support and understanding. By working together and being vigilant about the food we send into school, we can help ensure that all children remain safe and are able to enjoy their school

day without unnecessary risk.

The Importance of Good Attendance

Regular school attendance plays a vital role in every child’s learning, progress and overall development. Children who attend school consistently are more likely to achieve strong academic outcomes, while also developing essential skills such as resilience, good routines and confidence that support their future success.

At Goldthorn Park Primary School, we are committed to working in close partnership with our families to ensure every child attends school regularly, arrives on time and is ready to learn each day.

We are incredibly proud that attendance has improved in every year group over the past two weeks—this is a fantastic achievement. Well done to all our children and families for your continued effort and commitment. Let’s keep it going!

Key Attendance Information
