School News 5th June 2026

Headteacher's Message

Dear Families,

As we reflect on the month of May, our school value of Leadership has been evident in so many inspiring ways across Goldthorn Park. We have been incredibly proud to see our children demonstrate confidence, resilience and teamwork through a wide range of enriching experiences.

From expressive dance and art projects to the determination shown by our Year 6 pupils during their SATs, our children have truly risen to the challenge and led by example. We have welcomed valuable PCSO visits, celebrated outstanding artwork Year 4 Rainforest Art, and been uplifted by our choir’s wonderful performance at the Wolverhampton “Singing in the Halls” event Singing in the Halls. Our pupils have also embraced learning beyond the classroom through Rainforest adventures Year 4 Rainforest Art, and represented the school brilliantly in football tournaments Tony McGinn Cup! and the City Cricket Championships. These moments highlight not only talent, but the leadership qualities our pupils are developing every day.

Looking ahead, there is still much to look forward to in the coming weeks. Our Year 1 pupils will undertake the Phonics Screening Check, and our Year 4 pupils will complete the Multiplication Times Table Check, both important milestones in their learning journey. Enrichment continues with events including the Alice in Wonderland visiting theatre, our Day of Welcome, Refugee Week, and Goldthorn’s Got Talent auditions. Our football team will also take part in the Elston Hall Learning Trust World Cup Football Tournament, alongside a range of planned trips and experiences.

We firmly believe that these enrichment opportunities enhance our curriculum and provide memorable learning experiences for every child. We are truly grateful for the ongoing support of our parents and families—without your contributions, many of these opportunities would not be possible.

We also greatly value the feedback you provide through our parent surveys. Your voice is important, and we strive to ensure that your views shape our future planning. For example, in Summer 2025, many parents highlighted the importance of increasing Physical Education opportunities. In response, we have strengthened our provision, with our efforts having been recognised through achieving the Association for Physical Education Quality Mark – a fantastic accomplishment for our school.

It is now time for our Summer 2026 parent survey, and we warmly encourage you to share your views once again—what we are doing well and where we can improve further. Together, we can continue to shape an outstanding experience for all pupils and look ahead with excitement to what 2026/27 will bring. The parent survey will close on Friday 3rd July 2026, so please take a minute to make your voice heard.

Finally, please remember that our door is always open. Leaders are available at the start and end of each day, and we are always here to support you and your children.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs R. Purshouse

The Importance of Good Attendance

Regular school attendance plays a vital role in every child’s learning, progress and overall development. Children who attend school consistently are more likely to achieve strong academic outcomes, while also developing essential skills such as resilience, good routines and confidence that support their future success.

At Goldthorn Park Primary School, we are committed to working in close partnership with our families to ensure every child attends school regularly, arrives on time and is ready to learn each day.

We are incredibly proud that attendance has improved in every year group over the past two weeks—this is a fantastic achievement. Well done to all our children and families for your continued effort and commitment. Let’s keep it going!
