As part of our ‘Under the Canopy’ topic, Year 4 have continued to develop their artistic skills. Throughout the unit, we have explored a range of techniques including frottage, sketching and painting to create rainforest-inspired artwork.
We carefully observed a variety of leaves and recorded their textures using the frottage technique of leaf rubbing. We then explored how to use different lines and shading techniques when sketching leaves before moving on to painting. The children experimented with mixing colours to create different tones and used a range of paintbrushes and techniques to add texture and detail to their work. Using the skills they had been taught, the children then created their own beautiful rainforest-inspired paintings.
