Headteacher's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we move through this exciting term, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the wonderful learning and enriching experiences our children have enjoyed recently. These opportunities have not only enhanced their understanding of the curriculum but also sparked creativity, built confidence, and created lasting memories.

Our Year 2 and Year 3 pupils had a fantastic time at the Grand Theatre, where they were immersed in the magic of live performance. The trip was a brilliant way to bring storytelling to life and inspire a love of the arts.

Year 3 also had the privilege of welcoming a professional illustrator into school. This special event gave the children a unique insight into the creative process behind book illustration and encouraged them to explore their own artistic talents. The excitement and engagement during the session were truly heart warming. Meeting Author Matt de la Peña and Illustrator Christian Robinson!

Meanwhile, our Year 6 pupils embarked on their residential adventure at Laches Wood. This experience was filled with teamwork, resilience, and outdoor learning. From climbing and orienteering to campfire stories, the children challenged themselves, supported one another, and returned with a sense of achievement and independence that will serve them well in their final year of primary school.

Looking ahead, we have a number of exciting events coming up:

  • Year 5 Trip: A fantastic opportunity for our Year 5 pupils to explore and learn beyond the classroom.

  • Parent Workshops for Phonics: These sessions are designed to support you in helping your child with early reading skills at home.

  • Parents’ Evenings: A valuable chance to discuss your child’s progress and celebrate their achievements.

  • Diwali Celebration Day: We’re looking forward to a joyful day of colour, culture, and community as we celebrate the Festival of Lights together.

Thank you for your continued support in making these experiences possible. We are proud of every child and grateful for the enthusiasm and encouragement you bring to our school community.

Warm regards,

Kind Regards,

Mrs R. Purshouse

Headteacher

Attendance Matters...

ree

Regular attendance at school is vital for every child’s learning and development. Research shows a clear link between low attendance and lower academic achievement. At Goldthorn Park Primary School, we are committed to supporting all our children and their families to ensure pupils are in school, on time, every day.

If you have any concerns about your child’s attendance, please contact the school so we can work together to provide support. Attendance below 96% is considered low, and children with attendance below 90% are classed as Persistently Absent. Let’s work together to give every child the best chance to succeed.
