Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we move through this busy and joyful term, I want to take a moment to celebrate the rich personal development opportunities our children have embraced across school. These experiences reflect the heart of our community and the values that guide everything we do: Growth, Optimism, Leadership, Determination, Excellence, Nurture.
Over the past few weeks, our pupils have shown remarkable curiosity and enthusiasm while engaging in a wide range of activities that help them learn about themselves, others and the world around them.

Today we have celebrated the beautiful celebration of Mărțișor, where children explored this spring tradition through creativity, culture and friendship. It was wonderful to see the value of Nurture in action as pupils shared stories, crafted symbols of hope, and learned about customs from different parts of the world.
Our Year 2 residential offered another powerful opportunity for personal development. The children demonstrated impressive Leadership and Growth as they tackled new challenges, worked as teams, and showed resilience and independence away from home. Their confidence has flourished, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. Year 2 Residential 2026 | Goldthorn Park
In EYFS, our youngest learners delighted in the joy of Pancake Day, showing determination in flipping, tasting and exploring traditions through play and storytelling. Their Optimism and eagerness to try new things remind us what early learning is all about—wonder, exploration and shared laughter.
Across the school, children took part in Children’s Mental Health Week, spending time reflecting on wellbeing, emotions and connection. Through assemblies, workshops and class activities, they built strategies for self‑care and supported one another with empathy and kindness. This week truly highlighted our commitment to Nurture and Excellence in personal development.
Our pupils also engaged thoughtfully in Internet Safety Day, deepening their understanding of how to stay safe, respectful and responsible online. Their discussions showed maturity and growing digital awareness—important skills for lifelong learning and leadership in the modern world.
Finally, National Storytelling Week filled our classrooms with imagination, creativity and the magic of language. Children read, listened, performed and created stories of their own, demonstrating how our value of Excellence shines through their communication and creativity. As part of this week a group of children from Year 6 were able to meet the Author Holly Webb who shared her story and some of her background to inspire our authors of the future. Each event has offered our children the chance to grow as individuals, support one another and step confidently into new experiences. Their joy, curiosity and compassion continue to inspire us every day.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we ensure that our school remains a place where every child can thrive, discover their strengths and live our values proudly.
Warm regards,
Mrs R. Purshouse
