Headteacher's Message

Dear Families,

I would like to begin by offering my heartfelt thanks for your continued support. Our partnership with families is at the centre of everything we do, and together we remain committed to striving for excellence for every child in our school. Your encouragement, involvement, and trust help us ensure that all pupils feel valued, nurtured, and motivated to achieve their very best.

As we move through March, our Value of the Month is Growth. This theme is reflected beautifully throughout our school community. We are celebrating the many ways our pupils continue to grow—not only in their academic learning, but also in their personalities, their developing skills, their growing confidence, their oracy, and their ability to embrace challenges and new opportunities. It has been a joy to witness just how much progress each child is making.

The past couple of weeks have been filled with rich and exciting opportunities that truly demonstrate our school values of Growth, Optimism, Leadership, Determination, Excellence, and Nurture in action. Our pupils have enjoyed:

  • Y5 Workshop during Science Week, where the children deepened their understanding of Space through engaging, hands-on learning. Which was further explored through some wonderful homework projects:

  • Y2 Trip to the Black Country Museum, bringing history to life in meaningful and memorable ways.

  • An inspiring visit to the Little People, Big Dreams author Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, sparking creativity and enthusiasm for reading and writing. Little People, Big Dreams at Grand Central!

  • Y1 Library visit, promoting our love for reading. The children met the librarian, had a tour of the library and shared some stories. The children are excited to use their new library memberships to borrow books with our families! Year 1 Visit Our Local Library

  • A vibrant World Book Day, where our love of stories and imagination shone brightly. World Book Day! More World Book Day Fun! Storytime Across the School

  • Football matches, where our pupils displayed outstanding teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. Goldthorn V St Andrews

We were also delighted to welcome so many of you into school today to celebrate Mother’s Day with Reception and Nursery. It was wonderful to see the smiles, pride, and special moments shared between children and families. Thank you for making it such a warm and joyful occasion.

Looking ahead, next week is Careers Week, and we are excited to welcome a range of professionals into school. Year 5 and Year 6 pupils will have the chance to explore different career paths, ask questions, and begin thinking about the futures they may aspire to. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to connect their learning with real-world possibilities and to reflect on their own strengths, interests, and ambitions.

I would also like to share how proud we are of our school football team, who finished 2nd place in our league this year. This is a remarkable achievement, reflecting the determination, leadership, and excellence they have shown throughout the season. We are incredibly proud of them, and this success puts us in a brilliant position to push for 1st place next year!

Thank you once again for your ongoing support. Our door is always open, and we welcome conversations about how we can continue to support you and your children. Together, we will keep building a school community where every child can flourish.

With pride and gratitude,

Mrs R. Purshouse

Headteacher

Safeguarding is Everyone's responsibility

Our Online Safety Consultant Mr Patrick Flynn has shared some 'top tips' for keeping our children safe online for our parents and families. Please follow the link below to keep up-to-date and knowledgeable about the potential risks for our children online.

At Goldthorn Park Primary School our door is  always open. If you have any concerns about a child or

family, please contact the school. We are here to listen and help provide the support you need.

Nut Free School

Please remember that we are a nut-free school. Some of our children and staff have severe nut allergies, and even small traces of nuts can cause dangerous reactions. To keep everyone safe, please ensure all snacks and lunch items are completely nut‑free.

Thank you for helping us keep our school safe.

Uniform

Wearing school uniform plays a key role in supporting positive learning behaviours across our school. Uniform creates a strong sense of belonging, reduces distractions, and helps pupils start each day with the right mindset for learning. When children arrive dressed smartly and consistently, it reinforces routines, responsibility, and pride in themselves and their school.

Uniform also promotes equality by placing all pupils on the same footing, helping create a calm, focused environment where everyone can concentrate on their work. It reflects our school values—Growth, Optimism, Leadership, Determination, Excellence, and Nurture—and encourages children to meet high expectations in both appearance and attitude.

A simple consistent uniform helps build the positive culture that allows every child to thrive.

Attendance Matters...

Regular attendance is essential for every child’s learning, progress, and overall development. Children who attend school consistently not only achieve stronger academic outcomes but also build the foundations they need for future success.

At Goldthorn Park Primary School, we are committed to working closely with our families to ensure that every child is in school, on time, every day.

Key Information

  • Attendance below 96% is considered low.

  • Children with attendance below 90% are classed as Persistently Absent.

By continuing to work together, we can make sure every child has the best possible opportunity to thrive.
