School News - 10th January 2025

Spring Term 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year!

Looking back to Autumn Term we have many reasons to say thank you to our families for all of the support school received throughout Autumn Term 2024. In school the children have raised money for charities including £502.40 for Children in Need and £409.13 for the Poppy Appeal 2024. Additionally, the children have enjoyed trips, visitors into school, special celebrations, themed weeks and workshops and none of these could go ahead without the support we have from home. At Goldthorn Park we subsidise all of our trips being mindful of the cost to families but without your contributions school could not run so many wonderful experiences for the children... thank you.

We have an exciting term ahead and look forward to seeing our children grow in their learning and personal skills.

Best wishes,

Mrs Purshouse

(Head Teacher)

Attendance

Attendance remains incredibly important for us at Goldthorn Park Primary School. Our school target is for our pupils to have 96% attendance or higher for our children to continue their learning.

At the end of the Autumn Term our school attendance was 94.05% which is lower than our target. We know that children get poorly, especially during the winter months, but please carefully consider any leave of absence during term time as any avoidable missed days will impact on children's learning.

Safeguarding - Online Safety

Over the Christmas holidays our children may have been gifted devices with online functions. With this in mind Mr Flynn,  our Online Safety advisor, has produced a quick informative SWAY which includes helpful hints for parents. Please take 2 minutes to check that you have a good understanding around parental controls on electronic devices and a good knowledge of age restrictions for Apps and games.

We continue to work together to keep our children safe online

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is our constant focus at Goldthorn Park Primary School. Your Safeguarding team are always available to support you with any concerns about your own or other families' children.

Please take the time to read the 'Watch out in water' information below as it highlights the dangers when a child is left unsupervised even for a short time in shallow water. Knowledge is power!

Health & Safety

We have been asked by Wolverhampton Safeguarding Together to share this important Health & Safety guidance with you, this is also true of magnets:

Across the Winter season we have common illnesses that spread more readily without good personal hygiene. In school we teach and remind our children about good hand hygiene, catching coughs and blowing noses. Attached is some advice which school follows and may be a benefit for you at home to reduce the spread of these common Winter illnesses.
