Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are all incredibly proud of our pupils for their many outstanding achievements this term.

Last week we celebrated a huge achievement when our football team secured their first win — an impressive 6-1 victory against Springvale Primary. What a fantastic start! Goldthorn's 6–1 Victory!

Our School Council representatives also did us proud when they attended the Mayor’s Parlour Christmas Party, where they were commended for their excellent behaviour and manners. They truly represented Goldthorn Park brilliantly. A Magical Afternoon at the Mayor’s Christmas Party!
Our children showed commitment to their fitness by smashing the 1 mile Santa dash last Friday. Santa Dash 2025!

I must also celebrate the incredible talent showcased in our Christmas performances. The KS1 production of Baamy Bethlehem Barmy Bethlehem was full of wonderful acting, singing, and dancing, and our Year 5 & 6 performance of Bah Humbug! was equally spectacular. The hard work and creativity of our pupils shone through in every moment.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all our parents, friends, and families for your continued support in making these events such a success. Your encouragement and involvement mean so much to us and to the children.
Wishing you all a joyful festive season!
Warm regards,
Mrs R. Purshouse

Early Years Farm Visit & Special Guest
Early Years had an amazing afternoon on Tuesday when the farm came to visit — and brought along a very special Christmas guest! The children were thrilled to meet a variety of animals up close and learn all about them. It was a fun, hands-on experience that sparked curiosity and created plenty of happy smiles.
Year 4 had a fantastic day exploring Dudley Canal and Caverns!
The children enjoyed a range of exciting activities, including a boat ride through the caverns, hands-on workshops, and a visit to a floating museum. They learned fascinating facts about the Industrial Revolution, the importance of the canal network for trade, and even picked up valuable lessons about water safety. It was a day full of discovery and adventure!
Staff were extremely impressed with the pupils’ behaviour throughout the trip. They listened attentively, showed great respect, and represented Goldthorn Park to the highest standard. Their enthusiasm for learning and excellent manners were commented on by everyone involved — a real credit to our school!
Attendance Matters...

Regular attendance is vital for every child’s learning, progress, and overall development. Research shows that pupils who attend school consistently achieve stronger academic results and lay the foundations for future success.
At Goldthorn Park Primary School, we are dedicated to working in partnership with families to ensure that every child is in school, on time, every day. Next week, you will receive information about your child’s current attendance percentage. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact the school — we’re here to offer help and support.
Important information:
Attendance below 96% is considered low.
Pupils with attendance below 90% are classed as Persistently Absent.
Let’s continue working together to give every child the best possible opportunity to thrive.
