School News - 13th December 2024

Autumn Term 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a wonderful week! Thank you to all of our parents and carers who have supported school with Christmas Productions, Christmas Craft, Winter Jumpers and Christmas dinners. We pride ourselves on providing our pupils with opportunities to sing, dance and act and are grateful for your support with this. Both our KS1 and UKS2 Christmas performances were polished, the children knew their lines and acting cues, the singing was clear and heartfelt and all children showed their enjoyment at working together to produce high-quality plays. We even had pupil technicians who took care of the music and electronic backdrops! A big thank you to all involved.

Reception Christmas Craft morning

Thank you to our Reception parents who were able to come along and spend the morning listening to our Reception children sing Christmas songs and create some wonderful crafts together. It was a lovely morning.

British Value: Respect & Tolerance.

Mayors Parlour Christmas Party

This week members of our School Council were invited to the Mayor's Parlour in the 'City of Wolverhampton' Civic Centre to celebrate the festive season with the Mayor. The children enjoyed singing, games, a surprise visit from Wolverhampton's Panto stars 'Giant and Belle' and of course meeting Santa and Rudolf. "We LOVED it!! Can we go back again next year!"

British Value: Democracy.

School of Sanctuary

We shared last week how proud we are that we have been reaccredited with the School of Sanctuary Mark for our work on celebrating our community's diversity and welcoming all of our children and their families to develop a strong sense of belonging.

We have since received our award from Mrs Clare Sumner, School of Sanctuary Lead for Wolverhampton who said, "It is a privilege to award Goldthorn Park Primary with the School of Sanctuary reaccreditation. Running through the core of the school is the ongoing commitment to create a welcoming environment that celebrates, respects and values everyone in the school community."

We are so proud of our children and staff at Goldthorn Park Primary School, and would like to that everyone for their continued support.

British Value: Respect & Tolerance.

Welcome Committee receiving the award from Mrs Sumner.

Endings and New Beginnings - As we approach the end of term we prepare to say goodbye and 'bon voyage' to Mrs Attwood who has taught in Year 4 since September. We thank her for all she has done at Goldthorn Park Primary across the term and wish her well in her new role. We welcome Mrs Singh who will be taking over in Class 10 from January and has enjoyed spending time with her new class throughout November and December. We also welcome Mrs Ward who will be joining our Reception teaching team from January. Exciting times ahead.

Next week we have lots of learning opportunities including our Reception children are on a magical trip to the farm and we will be celebrating our very special 'Pupil of the Term' assemblies.

Thank you to all of our families for your continued support.

Best wishes,

Mrs R. Purshouse

(Headteacher)
