Spring Term 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Following a busy few weeks, we can proudly reflect on the various activities our amazing children have participated in or led, such as World Book Day, the Year 2 Assembly, the Martisor Celebration, and library visits. Please see below for more details on these events.
Thank you to our parents who joined us for our coffee morning organised by Miss Morgan (SENDCo) on Wednesday, I know that the School nurse, SEND teacher and Educational Psychologist were very happy to share their expertise and answer your concerns. We hope to repeat this in Summer Term to support our parents and families.
Next week, we will celebrate Science Week, led by our Science Ambassadors and Miss Hill (Science Lead). Be sure to check ClassDojo for updates on the exciting learning activities we will engage in.
Best wishes,
Mrs Purshouse
(Head Teacher)

World Book Day 2025
Yesterday, Goldthorn Park Primary School celebrated World Book Day 2025 with a variety of fun-filled activities across school to promote reading for pleasure.
The day kicked off with a World Book Day assembly led by the Reading Champions to promote this year’s theme: Read Your Way. Throughout the day, classes also completed a variety of fun reading activities from listening to stories read by teachers to children creating their very own potato book characters.
Here are some photos to show what we got up to on World Book Day across Goldthorn Park Primary School.
During break time, the reading ambassadors also held a pre-loved book sale, where children could buy a second-hand book and give it a new home. A huge thank you to everyone who purchased a book. In total we raised a magnificent sum of £157.92. This money will now go to further enhancing our reading for pleasure opportunities across school – watch this space for news on what we hope to spend the money on!
Lastly, a big thank you to the Reading Champions for all their hard work in organising and helping to run this wonderful day. Dishita and Anaya (Class 14), Anand and Kavach (Class 13), Navya (Class 12), Hunar (Class 11), Arjun S and Thasvin (Class 10), Alexia (Class 8) and Gurparkashdeep (Class 7). Also, thank you to Meena and Jaskirat (Class 14) for their help too with the pre-loved book sale.

Year 2 Assembly - World Book Day

Thank you to all of our parents and carers who were able to join our Year 2 assembly. The children memorised and performed one of our favourite stories, We're Going on a Bear Hunt, with actions and sound effects to engage their audience. It worked, the children were amazing and the audience was able to join in. We are proud of our children's opportunities to perform and build their confidence with public speaking.
Happy Martisor!

Last Friday our school celebrated 'Martisor' which is a Romanian tradition that celebrates the arrival of spring. It involves wearing or exchanging small pieces of red and white string with a decoration attached and is celebrated on March 1st in Romania and Moldova. We enjoyed making our own Martisors and cards and sharing them with our families.
Year 1 Library visit
The librarian, Elisabeth, at Spring Vale library was welcoming and very happy to share her library and books with our wonderful Year 1 children. Many of the Year 1 children now have a membership to access Wolverhampton Libraries which they can use to choose books to borrow. Because of World Book Day Elisabeth also gave every child a free world book day book which the children loved. Mrs Game and Mrs Postance we very proud of the children who followed our school rules - Ready, Respectful and Safe throughout the visit. Well done Year 1!
