Headteacher's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of an experience-packed and learning-filled Autumn Term 2025, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your incredible support. From attending workshops and cheering on your children during performances to helping make trips and welcoming visitors possible through your financial contributions—many of these enriching experiences could not happen without you, our parents and carers.

As parents and carers, your voices continue to play a vital role in shaping our school. One area parents highlighted in our Summer 2025 parent survey was the desire for us to become more competitive in sports. We hope you feel we are truly “upping our game”! This term, over 220 children have taken part in 12 after-school clubs, we have our football team taking a huge win, and to further strengthen our commitment to competitive sport, we are delighted to announce that we have employed our very own sports coach, who will join our team permanently in the new year. We will keep inspiring our pupils to engage in school-based sport and encourage them to explore opportunities within the wider community.

This week you should have received a letter updating you on your child’s attendance for Autumn 2025. Attendance remains a key priority for us because we know children succeed in all areas when they are in school. Today, we celebrated both 100% attenders and most improved attenders in our merit assembly. We encourage every pupil—and their families—to aim for excellent attendance every day.

Finally, please join us in sending our very best wishes to Miss Collins as she begins her maternity leave ahead of welcoming her daughter after the Christmas break. Miss Collins has been an incredible part of our school community, inspiring pupils with her enthusiasm and dedication. Her hard work and commitment have made a lasting impact, and we know you will join us in celebrating this exciting new chapter in her life. We look forward to welcoming her back in the future and can’t wait to hear all about her new arrival. In the meantime, we wish her a joyful, restful, and memorable time as she prepares for motherhood.

Thank you once again for your continued support. We look forward to an exciting Spring Term together. Wishing you and your families a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Warm regards,

Mrs R. Purshouse

Asthma Friendly School

At Goldthorn Park Primary, we pride ourselves on working closely with other professionals to ensure the highest standards of care for our pupils. We are delighted to share that we have been awarded Asthma Friendly School status in recognition of our awareness, training, and approach to supporting pupils and staff with asthma.

This achievement reflects our commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for every child. You can feel confident that our staff are trained to respond appropriately and that we have clear procedures in place to manage asthma effectively during the school day.

If your child has been diagnosed with asthma or prescribed an inhaler, please contact the school office so we can update our records and ensure the right support is in place. If you have any questions or concerns about asthma care at school, please don’t hesitate to get in touch—we’re here to help.

Attendance Matters...

Regular attendance is vital for every child’s learning, progress, and overall development. Research shows that pupils who attend school consistently achieve stronger academic results and lay the foundations for future success.

At Goldthorn Park Primary School, we are dedicated to working in partnership with families to ensure that every child is in school, on time, every day.

Important information:

  • Attendance below 96% is considered low.

  • Pupils with attendance below 90% are classed as Persistently Absent.

Let’s continue working together to give every child the best possible opportunity to thrive.
