Summer Term 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was a short half term, but it was filled with opportunities and experiences for our wonderful children. Many of these enriching opportunities are made possible by the support of our parents and families, so we extend a heartfelt thank you for your ongoing support.

This week at school, we participated in Walk to School week to emphasise the health benefits of walking more, as well as the reduction in pollution and traffic congestion from having fewer vehicles on the road. The children received stickers and bookmarks, and we appreciate your support in this initiative.

On Tuesday, 20th May, our Year 5 & 6 school choir had an amazing experience singing at the Halls Choir event. For some children, it was their first time attending a live music concert. They sang enthusiastically and even continued singing on the coach ride back to school. You might have also seen photos of some of us performing on 'Wolverhampton Today'!

On Wednesday, 21st May, Mr. Ford and Mrs. Ward organised a football match against our Trust school, Edward the Elder. Our team listened carefully to Mr. Ford's strategies and showcased their abilities, quickly taking a 3-0 lead within 15 minutes. They worked well together, supporting one another and showing great sportsmanship by assisting opposing team members after tackles. We are incredibly proud of the team! Unfortunately, the weather changed, and the match was stopped due to thunder and lightning, but we look forward to the rematch and thank Edward the Elder for their hospitality. A big thank you also goes to the parents who came to support the team, as it meant a lot to the children and the staff. #goGoldthorn!

Thank you to our parents and families for encouraging and supporting the children to have an hot meal on Census day. We had an extra 60 meals taken which will all help with funding into next year. I appreciate your support with this.

Last week, our Year 6 students participated in their Statutory Assessment Tests, just like other schools across the country. We are extremely proud of the effort and dedication all the children demonstrated, as well as their mature and calm attitude during the exams. While SATs evaluate Reading, Maths, and Grammar, we recognise that there is so much more that contributes to our children's brightness, kindness, and success. We appreciate all the families who helped ensure the week went smoothly.

We look forward to continuing to work together and appreciate your active involvement in our school community. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for being an integral part of our school family!

Best wishes,

Mrs Purshouse

(Head Teacher)

Rocksteady Bands

This week, the whole school had a music workshop from Rocksteady. We all enjoyed learning about the different musical instruments used in a rock band and rocked out to some well-known anthems. Each Thursday, Rocksteady will be in school to teach instrumental lessons on electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, and vocals, and we can look forward to a gig later in the term to showcase the children's learning.

Wolverhampton Music School Workshop

On Thursday, musicians from Wolverhampton Music School performed for our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. The children learned about the different instrument families, including brass, wind, string, and percussion, and enjoyed live music and a sing-along. Our children benefit from a year's tuition on the violin in Year 4 from Wolverhampton Music School, and what better way to be inspired to continue to learn than by experiencing live music?
