Headteacher's Message
Dear Families,
What a busy and wonderfully productive Spring Term we have had at Goldthorn Park! Our children have enjoyed so many rich and exciting learning opportunities, and it has been a joy to see them grow, thrive and share their achievements with one another.

March’s Value of the Month has been Growth, and our pupils have shown this in abundance — growing in confidence, in their learning, and in their character. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them, and it is always uplifting to hear such positive feedback from visitors who work with our pupils and comment on their enthusiasm, manners and attitude towards learning.
A huge thank you to the families who were able to join us for our EYFS Mother’s Day sing‑a‑long and craft session, as well as our EYFS Easter Bonnet Parade. These events mean so much to our staff and, most importantly, to our youngest children, many of whom are performing in front of an audience for the very first time. Your support makes these moments even more special.

We were also delighted to see our Girls’ Football Team represent the school in a 6‑a‑side tournament this term. They showed fantastic determination and teamwork, and we look forward to seeing this team continue to grow in strength as we move into the Summer Term.
Another highlight was the Year 3 and Year 4 production. What an amazing performance! The singing, acting and dancing were outstanding, and we sincerely thank our families for their support with costumes, props and rehearsals at home. The children shone brilliantly on stage. This term also saw the success of our Mini‑Marathon, where our families once again came out to support us in true Goldthorn Park Primary fashion. The atmosphere, encouragement and community spirit made the event truly memorable for all involved. Mini Marathon!

Today, we celebrated Pupil of the Term, Value of the Month – Growth, and our Attendance Awards. These celebrations remind us just how many reasons we have to be proud of our incredible school community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to an exciting and successful Summer Term ahead, and we look forward to welcoming all of our pupils back to school on Monday 13th April.
With pride and gratitude,
Mrs R. Purshouse

Year 5 STEM Workshops
The Year 5 girls had an inspiring day at Wolverhampton Girls’ School, where they immersed themselves in a range of hands‑on STEM workshops. The girls took part in a variety of workshops including computer science, experimenting with programming and exploring how technology shapes the world around them. They also, took part in a Design & Technology workshop, they took on the challenge of building a sturdy structure using only spaghetti and elastic bands, testing their engineering skills to create a base strong enough to hold up to 2kg. The girls won the competition for the best structure. Their final workshop was science, where the girls investigated acids and alkalis, explored the states of matter through solids and liquids, and ended with an experiment creating elephant’s toothpaste. The girls thoroughly enjoyed every part of the day. Their curiosity, teamwork, and creativity shone through, and they left feeling inspired by the possibilities within STEM. Year 5 STEM Workshops

£422 Raised from the Scholastic Book Fair!

We are delighted to share that our recent Scholastic Book Fair raised an impressive £422. This contribution will help us expand our school’s reading resources and continue to promote a love of books across our classrooms.
A huge thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support. Your involvement plays a vital role in enriching our school community and providing meaningful opportunities for our children.
Thank you once again for your generosity and enthusiasm!

International Link with Fly High Montessori, Italy
Year 4 have had an exciting week! The children received their first letters from their new pen pals at the Fly High Montessori school in Italy, and the smiles were huge. Their pen pals sent lovely messages and colourful drawings, which our pupils loved reading and sharing with their friends. It’s been wonderful to see how excited the children are about making friends in another country. After the holidays, we’ll be writing back to our new Italian buddies!

EYFS Role Play visitors
We had a fabulous time taking part in our ‘Pop-Up Role Play Visit’!
The children explored the dinosaur area, posted parcels in the post office, styled hair in the salon, became vets for the day, put out fires at the fire station, and even looked after one another at the doctor’s surgery.
It was a truly wonderful experience for the children, and we hope they enjoyed every moment of it.
Thank you to our parents and families for your support in helping to fund these visitors and trips. These opportunities have such a positive impact on our children’s learning experiences and play an important role in supporting our ongoing focus on oracy, communication and confidence.

Attendance Matters

Regular school attendance plays a vital role in every child’s learning, progress and overall development. Children who attend consistently not only achieve stronger academic results, but also build the skills, routines and confidence they need for future success.
At Goldthorn Park Primary School, we are committed to working in partnership with our families to ensure that every child is in school, on time and ready to learn each day.
Key Information
Attendance below 96% is considered low.
Attendance below 90% means a child is classed as Persistently Absent
By continuing to support one another, we can ensure that every child has the very best chance to flourish and reach their full potential.
