Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the festive season, I want to take a moment to thank you for the incredible support you provide to Goldthorn Park Primary. Because of your partnership, our staff can deepen the learning of our children through exciting enrichment activities, ensuring every experience has maximum impact. Your encouragement truly makes a difference—thank you!
A huge thank you for supporting our Book Fair last week—your involvement helps foster a love of reading in our children and supports the purchasing of books for use in school. Please see more details below.
We’ve had some fantastic learning experiences recently:
Year 6 enjoyed a memorable trip to Blists Hill Museum, stepping back in time to learn about life in Victorian Britain. Year 6 Step Back in Time!
Our School Council did an amazing job planning and organising our school’s Children in Need Day. From fun activities to raising awareness, they worked hard to make the day enjoyable and meaningful for everyone.
Thanks to their efforts—and your incredible support—we raised £399.20 for this fantastic charity! Every penny will help make a difference to children and young people across the UK.
A big thank you to our School Council for their leadership and creativity, and to all our families for your generosity. Together, we’ve shown the power of kindness and community spirit!
Our football team played their first competitive match of the 2025–2026 season, showing grit and determination to equalise before a last-minute goal from the opposition ended the game 2–1. We are so proud of their effort and teamwork!
Year 5 Choir represented our school impeccably at St Bartholomew’s Church. They were Ready, Respectful, and Safe at all times—so much so that parents and professionals from other schools came to congratulate us. A real moment of pride! Year 5 Choir Performance
Our EYFS children enjoyed a magical Royal Ball on Tuesday, sparking excitement for their next topic. There were members of royalty everywhere we looked!
Looking ahead, the next three weeks are packed with activities to deepen learning and share the festive spirit: a Year 4 visit, our second football match, Penn Puppets visiting EYFS, the Santa Dash, and a party with the Mayor for some of our School Councillors. Christmas Performance rehearsals are also underway—please check the Dates for Your Diary section for details.
As always, our school aims to support families at the earliest opportunity. If we can help in any way, please come to the School Office.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Goldthorn Park community.
Warm regards,
Mrs R. Purshouse
Headteacher
Year 6 Step Back in Time at Blists Hill Victorian Town
Last week, our Year 6 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Blists Hill Victorian Town as part of their history learning. The children spent the day exploring what life was really like in the Victorian era and were amazed at how different it was from today!
During the visit, the children met costumed Victorian characters, visited the old-fashioned bank, bakery, post office, sweet shop and chemist, and discovered how people lived and worked over 100 years ago. The children behaved brilliantly and showed great curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and making excellent links to their classroom learning. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of Victorian life and appreciate how much daily life has changed.
A big thank you to all staff and volunteers who supported the trip—and well done to Year 6 for being fantastic ambassadors for our school!
Mr Rawlinson
(Year 6 teacher & English lead)

Thank You for Supporting Our Book Fair!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our parents and carers for your fantastic support during our recent book fair. Thanks to your generosity, we raised an amazing £522.
As a result, the school will receive 40% back in rewards – a total of £209 – which will be used to purchase exciting new books for our class and school libraries.
These new additions will help inspire a love of reading across the school, and we are truly grateful for your continued support in enriching our children’s learning.
Thank you once again for helping us make a difference!

Important Reminder – Earrings and PE Safety

For health and safety reasons, only small stud earrings are permitted in school. On PE days, these earrings must be removed to minimise the risk of injury during physical activities.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep all children safe.
Attendance Matters...

Regular school attendance is essential for every child’s learning, progress, and overall development. Evidence shows that children who attend school consistently achieve better academic outcomes and build stronger foundations for future success.
At Goldthorn Park Primary School, we are committed to working closely with families to ensure that all pupils are in school, on time, every day. If you have any concerns about your child’s attendance, please don’t hesitate to contact us — we’re here to help and support you.
Please note:
Attendance below 96% is considered low.
Pupils with attendance below 90% are classed as Persistently Absent.
Let’s continue to work together to give every child the best possible chance to thrive.
