As part of our creative curriculum, Year 6 have been busy producing a beautiful Poppy Art Installation. The children learned new textile skills by creating their own poppies using red felt. Here is what that children had to say about our learning.
''In our DT lesson this week, we created our very own Poppy Art Installation. First, we learned how to sew a simple stitch. Some of us had never sewn before, so we practised carefully until we felt confident. Once we got the hang of it, we started making our poppies. We used red felt and cut out two poppy shapes. Then we stitched them together and used a button in the middle to join the pieces and make the centre of the flower. We really enjoyed learning a new skill and seeing our poppies come together. We can’t wait to see them all displayed as one big piece of artwork!''
